riverport amphitheater
from guns n’ roses posted in music by nevereatshreddedwheat
The Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusion Tour was one of the longest rock tours ever lasting 28 months from the beginning of 1991 until mid-1993. An hour and a half into their July 2, 1991 show at the Riverport Amphitheater west of St. Louis, Axl Rose repeatedly told security to confiscate the camera of someone in the front. When they didn't he dived into the crowd and then threw down the mic when he returned to the stage, ending the show and kicking off a riot in the new venue that had only been open for less than one month.
It wasn't until after GNR returned from the Europe leg of their tour the following year that Axl was arrested on assault and property damage charges. A second riot took place in 1992 after a show in Montreal when the band was on tour with Metallica and Faith No More.

smart studios

This is the former location of Butch Vig's studio in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1990, Nirvana (Cobain, Novoselic and early drummer Chad Channing) recorded here what was intended to be a follow-up to Bleach for Sub Pop Records. "Polly" was the only song recorded at Smart Studios to make it onto what would become Nevermind. Butch Vig would end up producing that album for them when the band signed to DGC Records, but it was recorded in California.
The studio, which Vig co-founded in 1983 along with future Garbage guitarist Steve Marker, closed in May 2010. Other bands who had recorded/mixed there include Smashing Pumpkins, Archers of Loaf and of course Garbage.

Jack White's record label Third Man Records (a nod to the Orson Welles film noir The Third Man) has its physical location in Nashville. The building, topped with a Tesla Tower, serves as a record store, production office and recording studio. Some bands that have released albums on the record label, founded in 2001, include The White Stripes, The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs.
hoxton street

The street that Richard Ashcroft walks down in the video for "Bittersweet Symphony" is Hoxton Street in London. If you want to recreate this, start lip-syncing next to the Golden Fried Chicken on the corner of Hoxton and Falkirk and head north, but refrain from bumping into people like an asshole.
The video was inspired by the 1991 video for "Unfinished Sympathy" by Massive Attack where Shara Nelson walks down a street in Los Angeles, singing and ignoring her surroundings just like Richard Ashcroft did, but not being such a dick.

In Massive Attack's 1991 video for "Unfinished Sympathy," Shara Nelson walks west on West Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles, starting at New Hampshire Avenue and rounding the corner onto Dewey. This video inspired the similar music video for the Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" filmed in London.
