peoples market album cover

from clutchy hopkins, misled children posted in music by nevereatshreddedwheat

The photo on the cover of the Clutchy Hopkins / Misled Children album Peoples Market was shot on the corner of Lincoln and 7th St. in Victorville, California. I have no idea what the Peoples Market was, but like everyone else I also don't know much about hip hop instrumentalist Clutchy Hopkins either. Rumor is it's a pseudonym for either DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Money Mark or MF Doom.

amerikkka’s most wanted album cover

from ice cube posted in music by nevereatshreddedwheat

The album cover for Ice Cube's first solo record Amerikkka's Most Wanted is obviously a cut-and-paste collage, but it's a respectable one considering the album came out in 1990. I bet they didn't even have photoshop back then... crazy.

The background behind his army of men is downtown Los Angeles at the intersection of South Broadway and W Olympic Blvd facing northeast.

The restaurant has been open for 26 years, but the owner says slow times have him on the verge of going out of business. Get over there for some soul food and show your support.

the station nightclub

from great white posted in music by nevereatshreddedwheat

Former location of the Station nightclub in Rhode Island which went up in flames on February 20, 2003 during a Great White concert, killing 100 people (including Great White's guitarist at the time Ty Longley) and injuring over 200 after some pyrotechnics ignited sound insulation foam behind the stage.

There is a ten minute video of the incident online, but it's unnerving so I'll let you search for it yourself if you want to watch that sort of thing.

the rialto

from run-dmc posted in music by nevereatshreddedwheat

In the music video for "It's Tricky", Run-DMC bust up Penn and Teller's three-card Monte scam in front of downtown L.A.'s Rialto Theater, although the joke is on them when Penn and Teller impersonate the group on stage in Japan six months later in front of a crowd who evidently can't tell the difference.

The historic Rialto on Broadway opened in 1917 and closed in 1988. The rumor in fall of 2012 is that Urban Outfitters is interested in the building for a retail store.
