The Tintin building (a.k.a. the Lombard building a.k.a. the Kuifje building) in Brussels, home of the Éditions du Lombard publishing house that published Tintin magazine (and the Dutch version Kuifje) from 1946-88.
On top of the building is an illuminated sign of Tintin and Snowy.
statue of hergé
from hergé posted in comic books by nevereatshreddedwheat
You can find a bust of Belgian comics writer and artist Hergé on the corner of a street named in his honor in the French city Angoulême.
Hergé, who died in 1983, is best known for his comic book series The Adventures of Tintin. Steven Spielberg made a 3D Tintin movie in 2011, but I don't know anyone who saw it.
metropolis, illinois
from superman posted in comic books by nevereatshreddedwheat
Metropolis, Illinois doesn't really have anything to do with the Superman canon. This town of less than 7,000 people shares the same name with what was a stand-in for New York in the comic books. For that reason it was declared the "Hometown of Superman" by DC Comics in the 1972. Apparently, in the '70s, Metropolis had plans to build an "Amazing World of Superman" theme park, but that decade's malaise must have forced them to reconsider.
Every summer the city holds a Superman Celebration, and don't miss (how could you) the 15-foot tall, bronze Superman statue in Superman Square.
