This is the location of The Lake Pub, the popular hangout in the French series The Returned. The small town where the show takes place is actually a composite of several locations in the Alps region of eastern France.

While investigating old cases similar to Dora Lange's Cohle comes across the Light of the Way Academy, a school that was part of Rev. Tuttle's Wellspring Program.
These scenes were filmed at an old high school and junior high in Kenner that's been closed since 1996. The building dates back to the 1920s and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Bunny Colvin's season three quasi-legal drug zone experiment (or Hamsterdam as it was known to the hoppers and yos of West Baltimore) was located south of E North Ave between Broadway and Bond St. The vacant row houses have since been torn down.

A deteriorating Civil War fortress in Louisiana called Fort Macomb was turned into the Yellow King's Carcosa for the season one finale of HBO's True Detective.
During the war the site guarded the Chef Menteur Pass, a water route connecting the Gulf of Mexico to Lake Pontchartrain. It was decommissioned in 1871 and is currently closed to the public.
the high rises

Franklin Terrace, The Wire's premier drug spot (before it was demolished at the beginning of season three), was based on former Baltimore housing projects like Lexington Terrace and Murphy Homes.
The high rises in the show are located near the the pit. The police crew did their surveillance from the rooftop of the United Methodist church across the street.
