Tignes Dam is featured prominently in the 2012 French horror-drama The Returned, although it's nearly two hours away from the area around Annecy Lake where most of the rest of the series was filmed.
It was constructed in 1952 to provide hydroelectric power to France. There is an underwater town by the dam just like in the show, except it was intentionally flooded by the artificial lake not by dam disaster.
