The beach they find is really Playa Cacaluta, near Huatulco in Oaxaca.

The headquarters of the ConSec defense corporation in the 1981 film Scanners is actually the Future Electronique building, located outside of Montreal.
The building is 13-story, 175 ft. example of modernism, and your head may explode if you cross the wrong people here.
