In Episode 2, Season 1 of Portlandia, Powell's Books (and the Pearl District) are featured in the "biker's rights!" sketch. There are five locations of Powell's Books, but this is the exterior used on the show.

Interesting side note: the Pearl District has free wi-fi.

This filming location for Portlandia was featured in Episode 2, Season 1. The Firehouse is where the well-traveled couple of Kathy and Dave (Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein) are all in a tizzy over a dog being tied to a "piece of metal."

In Episode 2, Season 1 of Portlandia, Fred and Carrie visit the mayor (Kyle MacLachlan) and get roped into writing Portland's theme song. The mayor is adamant about it not sounding like Seattle.

The role of the mayor's assistant is played by actual Portland mayor Sam Adams.

aliki farms

In the first episode of Portlandia, the overly zealous organic couple, Peter and Nancy, travel to the country to find the home of their free-range chicken, Collin. They end up at Aliki Farms, under the spell of the charismatic cult leader, Aliki (Jason Sudeikis).

The filming location is really an organic co-op farm called Wealth Underground Farm, about 10 miles north of downtown Portland. I'm not sure if you will get sucked into a cult if you go there.

The Gilt Club is featured in the first episode of Portlandia. The sketch is where Peter and Nancy (Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein) are overly concerned about the organic/fair trade/emotional status of their meal, and they decide to investigate further on their own.

"Yes."
"Let me ask you again. Is it local?"
