George Carlin gave his last stand-up performance there on June 6, 2008. He died on June 22 at the age of 71.

Located in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, the Corpus Chrisit School is a Catholic elementary school of the adjacent Corpus Christi Church.
Outspoken comedian George Carlin attended the school as a youth. Although he later mocked organized religion (and Catholicism in particular) in his act, Carlin remembered the school as an open-minded and positive learning experience.

After performing for six nights at Carolines, comedian Mitch Hedberg and his wife began staying at hotels in the NYC area.
On Tuesday, March 29, 2005, the couple checked into the Westminster in Livingston, NJ. Hedberg died the following evening from multiple toxicity drug overdose. He was 37 years old.
Taking a cue from Steven Wright, Hedberg's comedy style consisted of offbeat non-sequitors and staccato ramblings. Hear his work here.
