In a white shack behind this residence, Kurt Cobain and Matt Lutkin lived from September 1986 to May 1987.

Nirvana began to take shape here as Cobain, bass player Chris Novoselic and their first drummer, Aaron Burckhard, used this space to practice.

In Jack White's neighborhood of SW Detroit. The music video's outside shooting was done in front of the hotel, but inside shooting was done elsewhere. Regarded as a home for those without a home.

graffiti graveyard

The map for this is deceiving. Dululth's Graffiti Graveyard is under Interstate 35 so you won't see it driving around. When my friend and I went, we parked by the library, walked down by the railroad tracks, crossed some water on a rickety-ass board that served as a bridge and barely managed to haul ourselves over the concrete wall without falling in that sketchy creek or whatever you want to call it.

It's not very accessible and kind of creepy and muddy under there, but if you want to see a quarter mile of graffiti under the highway, this is the place.

kurt cobain’s elementary school

This is where Kurt Cobain went to elementary school. He was a musical child, singing along to The Ramones, The Beatles and Arlo Guthrie.

His parents divorced when he was nine years old, and Kurt's personality changed dramatically- becoming defiant and withdrawn.

Kurt Donald Cobain was born at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington on February 20, 1967. He was born to a waitress, Wendy Elizabeth (née Fradenburg), and an automotive mechanic, Donald Leland Cobain.

Kurt would return to the hospital during homeless periods in his teenage years, when he figured out the hospital staff would ignore his sleeping in the waiting room.
