This bar was a location for a scene in Factotum. In the scene, Chinaski (Matt Dillon) tracks down Jan (Lili Taylor) to a watering hole, then slaps her to the ground. A very lovable protagonist...

*Side note: Sitting next to Jan at the bar is local legend Spider John Koerner: 12-string guitar hero, respected folk musician, story-teller, and humorist.

This men's tailor shop was used as a set in the film Factotum. The scene is when Chinaski decides to get some nice threads after a series of winnings at the horse track. Located in the Uptown area of Minneapolis.

former 9th and hennepin building

The site of several scenes in the movie Factotum, the building at 9th and Hennepin used to be a low-rent apartment building. The cage between the counter and lobby area was already there. Rooms were rented by the week, and there was a pornography shop in the basement.

This building is reportedly where Tom Waits lived when he stayed in Minneapolis, and is referenced by his song, "9th and Hennepin."

Today, it has been completely renovated and is a boutique hotel and an upscale restaurant.

The exterior of this bar was used in one of the opening scenes of Factotum starring Matt Dillon. The sign says Kelly's Family Pub, but it is called the Depot Bar. In the historic Lowertown area.

The Monroeville Mall just east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was the primary filming location for 1978's Dawn of the Dead, the second of director George Romero's zombie films. JCPenney is the only store still around since the movie was shot. If walking around with fellow zombies in gory makeup is your thing, don't miss the Monroeville Mall Zombie Walk in October which is part of the larger zombie-themed convention Zombie Fest and the hub (fittingly enough) for World Zombie Day. Zombies!
