the house of the devil
from the house of the devil posted in movies by chewing_the_scenery
This is the house of the devil in Ti West's 1980s throwback horror movie The House of the Devil. The Victorian house is near Lime Rock Park. The weird goings-on at the hotel where Ti West and the crew stayed in nearby Torrington, Connecticut while shooting this film inspired his next movie The Innkeepers about a haunted hotel.

If Hollywood stopped making movies about high school reunions and the big city guy returning to his small hometown, I don't think anyone would care. Stillwater, Minnesota was turned into Knights Ridge, Massachusetts, the fictional small hometown in Beautiful Girls. Tommy (Matt Dillon), Paul (Michael Rapaport) and two other guys whose faces (but not their names) you would recognize have never left this fictional small town and drink frequently at The Johnson Inn.
The Marine General Store on the St. Croix north of Stillwater was used as the exterior of their favorite bar. The interior scenes were shot at Winfield Potters, a former restaurant in St. Anthony Main in Minneapolis.
energy park studios
from mst3k:the movie, a simple plan posted in movies by pete_nice
Located in the scenic industrial Energy Park area of St. Paul, Energy Park Studios was a filming studio that saw a number of films created within its walls: Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), Jingle All the Way (1996), A Simple Plan (1998), Grumpier Old Men (1995), Little Big League (1994) and more.
In 1996, locally-produced cult TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000 shot their theatrical release at Energy Park studios.
The number of 90's films shot in the area was partially due to concerted efforts made by then Gov. Jesse "The Mind" Ventura (former professional wrestler/Navy Seal/star of the film Predator) to attract the film industry to work in the state.
Energy Park Studios is currently closed and the building has been converted to the Hmong College Prep Academy.

Most of the 1996 comedy (at least I think it was supposed to be a comedy) Beautiful Girls was filmed in Stillwater, Minnesota a.k.a. the fictional town of Knights Ridge, Massachusetts. Stillwater is about thirty miles east of Minneapolis on the St. Croix River, but early in the movie Paul (Michael Rapaport) proposes to his girlfriend while she is working at Minneapolis's bowling alley / restaurant Bryant Lake Bowl... she tells him no.

I attempted to watch Untamed Heart recently because it was filmed in Minneapolis, but I only lasted about forty minutes. Christian Slater plays someone who is possibly autistic (didn't watch long enough to find out if they explained him at all) who works at a diner and falls in love with his coworker Marisa Tomei. The diner, Jim’s Coffee Shop & Bakery, used to be located on Central in northeast Minneapolis near downtown.
