slippery’s bar
from grumpier old men posted in movies by chewing_the_scenery
Although the 331 Club in Northeast Minneapolis was used for the exterior shot of Slippery's bar in Grumpier Old Men, the interior was shot a few blocks away at Mayslack's. Rumor has it that the bartender, seen here as Sophia Loren walks in, is in fact the owner.

Grumpy Old Men and its sequel Grumpier Old Men were both set in Wabasha, Minnesota, although I don't think either movie was shot there. Instead, many of the filming locations were in St. Paul, Stillwater and Faribault. The exterior of Slippery's bar is currently the location of the 331 Club in Northeast Minneapolis.
The interior was filmed at nearby Mayslack's

They have an ice cream social at the Witch's Hat on the day it is open. There's a long line, but it's wicked fun. There was a great piano and band when I went.
doomtree house

Here are some things that may or may not be true about the doomtree house:
1. The entire crew (all nine of them or however many there are) lived in the house together at some point.
2. They met Dessa because she lived next door.
3. They met Dessa because she lived two doors down.
4. The house itself was called doomtree on account of all the dead pigeons that for some reason (faulty gutters or murdering trees) would show up on the property in alarming numbers.
5. The crew named themselves after the house.
old guthrie theater
from led zeppelin, the who, posted in music by prof_improbable
This is the former location of the Guthrie Theater, which used to be attached to the Walker Art Center.
In the summer of 1969, there were a couple of big shows here: Led Zeppelin played on May 18th, and the Who played on June 8th.
The Guthrie Theater moved to it's new location on the banks of the Mississippi River in 2006. The Walker Art Center underwent a revision in 2005 to make it look like a crazy robot-head ready to eat Hennepin Ave traffic.
