The Hackney brothers practiced at their home everyday between 3-6 pm: Bobby (bass, vocals), David (songwriter, guitar) and Dannis (drums).

Originally calling themselves Rock Fire Funk Express, guitarist David convinced his brothers to change the name of the band to Death.

In 1974, the three African American brothers recorded seven protopunk songs at United Sounds Studio in Detroit.

The band's story was featured in the 2012 documentary A Band Called Death.

In his track "Lie4", Danny Brown makes several false claims about his financial status. He suggests that he has large amounts of cash in denominations of fifty & one hundred dollar bills. He purports be in a romantic relationship with a fashion model and that he employs servants at his home. He also claims to dine at one of Detroit's finest restaurants, The Whitney.

The scenes from Shaefer Zoo where Max and Charlie win their first fight in Real Steel were filmed at Detroit's old Belle Isle Children's Zoo which has been closed since 2002.

This is Tallet's Gym from Real Steel which was shot in and around Detroit. Real Steel is about the best you can expect from a movie about boxing robots, although it was nice to see Kate from Lost in something again.

“[T]he nation’s first federally funded public housing development for African Americans” and childhood home of future Motown stars, Smokey Robinson and (pictured here walking through the projects in 1965) the Supremes' Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard.

Demolition began on September 4th, 2013.
