Completed in 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the American Society of Civil Engineers selected Seven Wonders of the Modern World.

The bridge connects the city of San Francisco with Marin County to its north (the first bridge to connect over the ocean), and was the bridge with longest span until 1962 (it still has the second longest main span in the United States, after the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York City).

Joseph Strauss was the chief engineer on the Golden Gate, and was adamant of safety precautions to limit fatalities. Strauss insisted on hard-hats well before they became de rigueur, and instituted a system of safety nets to catch falling workers.

In all, eleven construction workers died in the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge (a heretofore unheard of number for bridge construction).

Those who fell into the nets and survived formed the Halfway to Hell Club.

Legendary punk rock venue, bar, and restaurant in the Twin Cities; basis for the NOFX song, "Seeing Double at the Triple Rock." The video was also shot on location.

The name comes from the 1980 film The Blues Brothers. The Triple Rock Baptist Church (whose pastor is James Brown) is the site where the brothers receive their "mission from god".

Located in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles is the former residence of Nicole Brown Simpson.

At 12:10 a.m. on June 13, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found murdered outside this residence.

Simpson's lawyers convinced the LAPD to allow O.J. to turn himself in for a suspected double homicide. Instead of willfully going to jail, O.J hopped in a white Ford Bronco with Al Cowlings and had a slow-speed chase during Game 5 of the Knicks-Heat Finals (the game was shown in a tiny box in the corner while the helicopter footage filled the screen).

On October 3, 1995, after a 252-day trial, O.J. Simpson was acquitted of the murder charges.

Today, O.J. is in jail on 12 other charges, including armed robbery and kidnapping, and serving a 33-year prison sentence.

The four bedroom, 3,700 sq ft. condo had its address changed to 879 S. Bundy Drive, and the house sold in 2006 for just under $1.7 million.

Painted on the side of the 1029 Bar at this address is a mural done by the Broken Crow design collective.

The mural depicts a duo of squirrels paddling in a Pabst Blue Ribbon can canoe. Either this is a celebration of the wildlife and leisure activities of the area (drinking and canoeing- typically best not mixed), or it is an environmentally conscious commentary. Either way, it's pretty cool.
