The producers felt this home "wasn't as grand" as they hoped for the filming, so they got another home nearby to substitute as the exteriors used in the film.

“charlie don’t surf”

from apocalypse now posted in movies by tacopolis

When Francis Ford Coppola shot Apocalypse Now in 1979, he probably didn't realize he was going to give birth to the surfing industry in the Philippines.

One of the iconic moments of the film features Colonel Kilgore trying to convince his men to surf the beach as bombs and bullets fly.

After the filming wrapped up at this location, the crew left some of the surfboards behind. Some locals picked up the boards, and started surfing the break, now nicknamed "Charlie's Point." The beach has since become a tourist draw for surfing.
