dicksboro apartments

from tim and eric awesome show, great job! posted in television by ratsnamgod

For the David Liebe Hart song "Father and Son".

"My son Chip passed away. He was stolen out of a box at the Dicksboros Apartment. Now I got a new boy, and, this is the new one that replaced 'Chip the Black Boy' that was stolen."

According to his song "Dicksboro", the structure was built in 1920 and Sidney Poitier stayed here. So did Julie Andrews.

The apartment building has received poor reviews on apartmentratings.com and is listed on the bedbudregisty.

the rusty nail

from freaks and geeks posted in television by ratsnamgod

From the episode “Carded and Discarded”. The freaks buy fake ID’s to get in this bar to see the band Feedback, which turns out to fronted by their guidance counselor, Mr. Rosso.
The Freaks and Geeks series took place in the fictional town of Chippewa, MI. Many references in the series are taken from writer Paul Feig’s hometown of Clinton Township, MI. These include 15 Mile Road, the now defunct grocery store chain Farmer Jack, Mount Clemen [sic] High School, Cobo Arena, Faygo pop, and, The Rusty Nail.
According to bar staff, the location was operating under The Rusty Nail name during in the early 1980’s, but at the time was “more of a biker bar”. From my experience, the location now looks to be a gathering place to drink and play euchre.

Andy Kaufman's home in 1950's and 1960's. He would first perform in this West Egg home, which may explain his obsession with The Great Gatsby.

"While all the other kids were out playing ball and stuff, I used to stay in my room and imagine that there was a camera in the wall. And I used to really believe that I was putting on a television show and that it was going out to somewhere in the world." - Andy Kaufman
