When Rick Grimes comes out of a coma to find himself in a zombie paradise, the hospital he exits in Episode 1, Season 1 of The Walking Dead is the administrative offices of the Atlanta Mission, an organization that "provides emergency shelter, residential discipleship, job attainment, and transitional housing to more than 950 homeless men, women and children daily."

Apparently, the building was under construction at the time of the building, but much of the exterior destruction and bodies were added digitally.

murrays mill

A sprawling 11.3 acre industrial site that dates back to the 1880's, Murrays Mill (also called the E. Van Winkle Gin and Machine Works) was a filming location for Episode 4, Season 1 of The Walking Dead. The survivors encounter a rival gang that has kidnapped Glenn, and this is where the heated confrontation occurs.

This location was also used in the 1993 film Kalifornia, where David Duchovny and Brad Pitt have an interaction in the west part of the acreage. The complex's water tower can be seen in several of the shots.

the quarry

If you head southwest down Lois St NW from this intersection, you will reach the quarry from The Walking Dead. This location was used for a variety of exterior shots in Season 1, and is also a nice place to fish, catch frogs and wash your clothes (post-apocalypse).

cobb energy performing arts centre

In Episodes 5 and 6 of Season 1 of The Walking Dead, the survivors follow Rick Grimes suggestion to seek help at the CDC in Atlanta. The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre provides the substitute for the real CDC in this episode.

ealing studios

Although many much of the exterior (and interior) filming for Downton Abbey were filmed at Highclere Castle and the village of Bampton, Ealing Studios was used for the servants' living quarters.

Ealing Studios is the oldest operating film studio lot in the world. Originally opened in 1902 by Will Barker, Ealing has also been the filming location for classics such as The Ladykillers (1955) and Shaun of the Dead (2004).
