east river park amphitheater
from wild style posted in movies by chewing_the_scenery
The East River Park Amphitheater in New York's Lower East Side was the site of the classic hip-hop movie Wild Style's final concert featuring The Fantastic Romantic 5, Chief Rocker Busy Bee and The Rock Steady Crew. Wild Style, from 1982, was about graffiti artist Zoro, played by real life graffiti pioneer Lee Quiñones. You can hear samples of the movie in "A to the K" by Cypress Hill, "Genesis" by Nas, "Professor Booty" by Beastie Boys and probably lots more that I don't know about.
The amphitheater, built in 1941, had fallen into disrepair, but it's since been remodeled and once again hosts public concerts.

Opened in 1989, the Angelika Film Center & Café is located in New York City's Soho district. The Angelika specializes in showing high budget independent cinema.
For his 21st birthday, Kevin Smith went to the Angelika to watch Richard Linklater's film Slacker. He later recalled the screening as his I-can-do-that moment.
From 1997 to 2005, the Angelika Film Center was used as the set for At The Angelika, a weekly TV series distributed by IFC Films.

The go-to studio for multiple tracks (and albums) for Ween, Graphic Sound Studio is a studio run by Greg and Patricia Frey in Ringoes (East Amwell), New Jersey.
"Baby Bitch" (track #7 on Chocolate and Cheese) was recorded at Graphic Sound in a frenzy. Dean and Gene were going through a prolific song-writing phase, and usual drummer Claude Coleman was on tour. Pat Frey filled in on drums for "Baby Bitch" and the song was done by the second take.
Ween's 2003 live album All Request Live for Chocodog Records was also done at Graphic Sound Studio, as well as numerous additional tracks and song portions throughout the years.

When the Weinstein Bros moved Miramax from Buffalo to New York City, their first office (in the early 80's) was at this location on the corner of 56th and Broadway.
Miramax had a hit at this location with The Secret Policeman's Other Ball, a benefit concert for Amnesty International starring Monty Python and numerous musicians. During this time, the business acquired many international films and reworked them for the US market.
