The Aloha Motel outside of New Orleans was dressed to appear as the Liberty Motel where Logan first meets Laura / X-23 in 2017’s Wolverine movie Logan. The building’s signage recontextualizes Professor X’s statement about the Statue of Liberty earlier in the film which just sounded at the time like a confused old man ruminating about the adventures in the first X-men movie.

Three-time murder suspect Robert Durst was arrested in the lobby of this hotel on March 15, 2015 following the last episode of the HBO series highlighting his homicidal tendencies, The Jinx.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, 1995, Shannon Hoon was found dead from a heroin overdose in the Blind Melon tour bus near Kingsway Studios, where the band had recorded their second album, Soup, earlier that year. He was 28 years old.
light of the way academy

While investigating old cases similar to Dora Lange's Cohle comes across the Light of the Way Academy, a school that was part of Rev. Tuttle's Wellspring Program.
These scenes were filmed at an old high school and junior high in Kenner that's been closed since 1996. The building dates back to the 1920s and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

This spillway was also used in the film Beasts of the Southern Wild.
Director of True Detective, Cary Fukunaga, worked on a short film with Beasts director Behn Zeitlin.
Fukunaga ended up hiring the production designer of Beasts, Alex DiGerlando, to create the haunting atmosphere of the first season of True Detective. (source: vulture)
