baltimore psychiatric hospital

Although Will Graham and company are held in the Baltimore Psychiatric Hospital in the tv series Hannibal, the exteriors used for the show are the David Dunlop Observatory outside of Toronto in Richmond Hill, ON (with a fair amount of CGI added for effect).

Many interiors of the hospital are shot in the facility as well, demonstrating the beaux arts architecture.

Although the Hannibal TV series on NBC is based in Baltimore, Maryland, many of the exteriors for the show were shot in Toronto.

Hannibal Lector's charming 3-story house is actually part of St. Andrew's Church, located across from Roy Thomson Hall on Simcoe St.

According to the real-life Baltimore Sun, Kavanaugh's in The Wire was based on the real-life cop bar Kavanaugh's that closed down some time in the late 90s. The Sidebar Tavern on Lexington was converted into Kavanaugh's for the show.

Some trivia: Detective Cole, who's honored with an Irish wake at the bar in season three, had been played by the show's co-creator Robert Colesberry who died in real life shortly after the filming of season two.

After Jerry Seinfeld had a meeting at NBC and realized he had no specific ideas for a TV show, he met up with Larry David at this diner in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York. During the meeting, the two decided to make a "show about nothing," and Seinfeld was born.
