Joey Ramone's mother, Charlotte, ran an art gallery called the Art Garden II adjacent to the old Trylon Cinema on Queens Blvd. The art gallery served as the practice space for the Ramones in their earliest days. "Mama Ramone" (as Charlotte was later called) was something of a matriarch for the Ramones and the fledging scene in those days, and was an advocate for the Ramones until her death in 2007.
