This is the former location of the legendary music venue CBGB. Standing for "Country, Bluegrass, and Blues," CBGB became famous for being one of the first venues in New York to embrace punk rock and new wave. The Ramones got their start here, as well as the Talking Heads and Blondie.
CBGB opened in 1973 and closed in October 2006. In April of 2008, a men's designer clothing store opened at the location. Much of the graffiti covering the toilets was preserved, along with some playbills from the club.
