bed-stuy neighborhood block

from do the right thing, public enemy posted in movies by nevereatshreddedwheat

Both Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing and the video for Public Enemy's "Fight the Power" that he directed were both filmed on Stuyvesant Avenue between Lexington and Quincy in Brooklyn's Bed-Stuy neighborhood. Sal's Pizzeria and the Korean grocery were both sets built for the movie.

The "Bed-Stuy Do or Die" mural that was painted for the movie on the corner of Stuyvesant and Lexington Avenues is almost entirely faded and mostly obstructed by a newer building.

"Fight the Power" was written by Public Enemy for the movie and was originally on the Do the Right Thing soundtrack.
