Soft-spoken and encouraging painter Bob Ross was the star of the PBS show The Joy of Painting from 1983 to 1994.
Prior to his tv show, Ross was in the Air Force for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant.
Bob Ross was buried here after his death from lymphoma on July 4, 1995. He was 52 years old.

These picturesque homes, located at 710–720 Steiner Street across from Alamo Park, are frequently used in San Francisco montages. They were built between 1892 and 1896 and survived the San Francisco fire of 1906.
The exterior that serves as the Tanner family home is on Broderick St.

Phil Hartman, star of Saturday Night LIve and NewsRadio, lived at this home with his wife and two children in Encino, CA.
On the evening of May 27, 1998, Brynn Hartman (Phil's wife) had been at the Buca Di Beppo down the street. Upon returning to the home, the couple were involved in a heated argument.
Phil Hartman threatened to leave his wife if she continued to use drugs and alcohol, then went to sleep. Brynn Hartman shot Phil three times at 3 a.m. with a .38 pistol.
