The Parchman Penitentiary, also known as the Mississippi State Penitentiary (MSP) or more informally the Parchman Farm, is the oldest prison in Mississippi.

In 1933, Alan Lomax and his brother John went to the prison to record prison work songs. Speaking of the people he met and the material he archived, "These people were poetic and musical and they had something terribly important to say."

On June 1, 1938, Elvis's father, Vernon Presley, was imprisoned for forgery in the Parchman Penitentiary.

On February 19, 1980, Bon Scott was drinking heavily at the London club Music Machine (now called KOKO). He was placed in a Renault 5 (a supermini car) by his acquaintance, Alistair Kinnear, at this address.

The next afternoon, Kinnear found a lifeless Scott in the car and alerted the authorities. He was brought to King's College Hospital in Camberwell where he was pronounced DOA. Pulmonary aspiration of vomit was the cause of Scott's death, and the official report listed "acute alcohol poisoning" and "death by misadventure."

After Scott's death, the band's next album was Back in Black. The album has sold 50 million copies to date, making it the 2nd highest-selling album of all time.

This flat is one of the deadliest apartments in music history.

Owned by singer/songwriter Harry Nilsson ("Without You", "Coconut") during the 70s, the flat was close to Nilsson hangouts like Apple Records, the Playboy Club, and Tramps disco. When Nilsson was in the States, he would loan out his apartment to his network of friends.

On July 29, 1974, Cass Elliot ("Don't Call Me Mama Anymore," The Mamas and the Papas) played a particularly strenuous show at the London Palladium and returned to this apartment to rest. She died of heart failure at the age of 32. Contrary to rumors, she did not choke on a sandwich; in fact, she had lost 80 lbs from fasting four days a week, and this most likely led to her heart failure.

Four years later, the Who's drummer Keith Moon returned to the apartment from a night out on September 7, 1978. Moon had been given the drug Clomethiazole to battle his alcohol addiction. He overdosed on 32 tablets of the drug.
