the gas station
from gg allin posted in music by nevereatshreddedwheat
Nihilistic punk rocker GG Allin had been claiming he would kill himself on stage for several years, but that didn't happen at his last show on June 27, 1993 at a club called the Gas Station formerly located here in what used to be a gas station in New York. The power went out or was shut off after just two songs, and GG, who was notorious for performing naked and cutting himself, roamed the streets around the club covered in blood and grime surrounded by his fans. He eventually ended up in the apartment of someone named Johnny Puke who lived nearby on Avenue B, and he died of a heroin overdose early the next morning.

From what I can determine, the women from Luscious Jackson are involved in some sort of spy plot in their Spike Jonze-directed music video for "Daughters of the Kaos." They turn the tables on the man spying on them when they follow him into the old Hollywood Galaxy Shopping Center on Hollywood Boulevard.

Soul singer Donny Hathaway's body was discovered on the sidewalk beneath his fifteenth-floor hotel room of New York's Essex House on the night of January 13, 1979. The glass had been removed from the window of his room and the door was locked from the inside. His death was ruled a suicide.
Hathaway was a songwriter, musician and producer who worked with artists like Curtis Mayfield, Aretha Franklin and the Staple Singers, but he was best known for his duets with Roberta Flack "Where is the Love" and "You've Got a Friend" in the early '70s.
