The beach they find is really Playa Cacaluta, near Huatulco in Oaxaca.

This is the former location of the bar where Jerry first meets up with Carl and Gaear at the beginning of Fargo. It's the only part of the movie actually set in Fargo, North Dakota, although the Coen brothers filmed the scene at the neighborhood bar King of Clubs here in Northeast Minneapolis.
The building was torn down sometime in the early 2000s to make way for an apartment complex.

The headquarters of the ConSec defense corporation in the 1981 film Scanners is actually the Future Electronique building, located outside of Montreal.
The building is 13-story, 175 ft. example of modernism, and your head may explode if you cross the wrong people here.
