Musician/composer Frank Zappa is also buried at Westwood (Section D, #100). His unmarked grave is about 8 yards west of Roy Orbison, and just to the right of actor Lew Aryes.

Frank Zappa died on Dec. 4, 1993 from prostrate cancer. He was 52 years old.

In 1995, professional skater Brewce Martin purchased (with the help of fifty friends) 88 acres of land in the Appalachian hills of Miegs county, Ohio.

Since then, Skatopia has been an ongoing and expanding skatepark/curious social experiment that was featured as the final level in the video game Tony Hawk's Underground 2 and in the 2011 documentary Skatopia: 88 Acres of Anarchy.

hollywood hills coffee shop

Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, both struggling to find work in the mid-90s, hammered out the screenplay for Swingers during afternoons at the Hollywood Hills Coffee Shop on the bottom floor of the Best Western near the 101 freeway. The restaurant shows up at the beginning and end of the movie and also when Trent dances on the table after their night at The Derby.

New owners took over the space in 2001 and the restaurant now operates as the 101 Coffee Shop.

newfoundland depot

Finbar McBride (Peter Dinklage) inherits this abandoned train depot in Newfoundland, NJ in the 2003 film The Station Agent.

The indie producers had to rough up the exterior with crackle paint for the film, but the original structure from 1872 still stands.

the derby

As an homage to Scorsese, Mike, Trent and Sue get a tracking shot of their own in Swingers when they enter The Derby through the back entrance to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

The Derby in Los Feliz was originally a branch of the Brown Derby chain of restaurants in LA before being converted into a nightclub in 1985. It closed down in 2009.
