Opened on May 15, 1927, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has been featured in many TV shows, films, songs, and general Hollywood history.
The first Academy Awards were held in the Blossom Ballroom here in 1929.
Marilyn Monroe was a resident at the Hollywood Roosevelt for two years when her modeling career took off. Her first magazine shoot was taken on the diving board on the pool behind the hotel, which was recently removed. The hotel's remodeled pool contains an underwater mural painted by David Hockney. Her ghost is supposed to haunt Cabana Suite 229.
The hotel underwent a major renovation in 2005 and a nightclub named Teddy's in the main lobby.

Not to be confused with the popular filming location Johnie’s Broiler, Johnie's Coffee Shop in Los Angeles is also an example of the futuristic Googie style of architecture that dates back to the 1950s.
It was featured most prominently in Miracle Mile when Anthony Edwards takes a random phone call in the phone booth outside and learns about an upcoming nuclear war.
It's also where Tim Roth (Mr. Orange/Freddy) meets with his supervisor Holdaway in Reservoir Dogs after he gets on the inside with Joe's crew and where Walter and The Dude talk about the severed toe in The Big Lebowski.
Other movies where you can see the restaurant, which closed in 2000, are Volcano, American History X, City of Angels, Very Bad Things and probably many more.

In Reservoir Dogs, Freddy / Mr. Orange rehearses part of his drug story in front of L.A.'s Toluca Substation. The substation, and the Belmont Tunnel next to it, dates back to the 1920s, leftover from the Pacific Electric Railway line that ran from downtown Los Angeles to Westlake. You can find the tunnel (now sealed) and the substation (now cleared of the graffiti) behind the Belmont Station Apartments that were completed in 2008.
