Located in the basement of the Hibbing Public Library is the Bob Dylan collection. The hours are not set, and when I visited there I had to ask a couple of people until I got to see the room.
Not a museum, the collection is the project of a local fan. It has some pictures, documents, some interesting info and a pretty cool guitar. I guess they have added more interesting material since I was last there: paper mache statue, anyone?

Bob Dylan lived at this home in Hibbing, MN from 1948 until he graduated high school in 1959.
People live there so kindly don't knock on the door.

Hunter S. Thompson transferred to this high school in September 1952.
He was accepted as a member of the Athenaeum Literary Association, a literary group at the school, and contributed a number of articles for them.
He was kicked out of this group in 1955 because of legal problems, and some biographers view this as the beginning of his resolve against social class hypocrisy.
the dakota

The Dakota is a co-op apartment building located at the northwest corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West in New York City.
Allegedly, the reason it was called the Dakota is because when it was constructed in 1880, the Upper West Side was considered as open and remote as Dakota territory.
John Lennon moved here in 1973, and was murdered outside the building by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980.

They have an ice cream social at the Witch's Hat on the day it is open. There's a long line, but it's wicked fun. There was a great piano and band when I went.
