The outdoor marine park named Sealand of the Pacific was located at the Oak Bay Marina in South Oak Bay, Vancouver. One of its main attractions was the orca ("killer whale") show.
In February of 1991, an animal trainer drowned during an orca show at the facility. According to the 2013 documentary film Blackfish, the orca named Tilikum pulled the trainer into the water. The park folded later that year, and the remaining orcas were sold to SeaWorld Orlando.
Description of the facilities and treatment of the orcas were theorized as reasons for Tilikum's behavior, which are discussed in detail in the film.
