From 1965 to 1972, Charles Bukowski lived at this bungalow. While at this location, John Martin of Black Sparrow press offered Bukowski $100 a week for life if he would quit the post office and write full time. Bukowski agreed. While living at this home, he wrote "The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over The Hills", "Notes of a Dirty Old Man", "Post Office", and many more.
In 2007 and 2008, the bungalow was in danger of being torn down. In February 2008, it became a Los Angeles cultural landmark.
